Housing First Rhode Island

Riverwood in partnership with the The Mental Health Association of RI is currently providing intensive supportive services to 50 people in permanent housing, with the ultimate goal of being able to service 200 single adults, and families, who have experienced long term homelessness.

The Program is based on a Housing First philosophy which aims to provide housing immediately with ongoing access to services without requirements. Comprehensive services are available, however tenants have the freedom to choose the services they want-if any-and services are not a condition of retaining housing.

"Housing First Rhode Island" offers a comprehensive menu of social servives and housing services informed by the needs of the participants. Services are provided by an integrated service team model (IST) and include engagement and outreach, behavioral health services, primary medical care, housing coordination, independent living skills, peer support, vocational support, money management, and benefits coordination.
